"Representation of narratives is a central tenet to my creative practice as a filmmaker. While a great deal of my work has focused on Asian American representation in mainstream media through intersecting lenses of race, gender, sexuality, and class, my goals are rooted in the shifting of power structures for individuals of marginalized identities. The work with Sharing Our Stories lends itself to such discourses of representation and diversity, and as such, my hope is that this project strengthens the conversation among, not only the KU queer and trans community, but the wider university to create a safer space for our students."
