Resources for Faculty & Staff

Faculty and staff have a responsibility to serve queer and trans students. SGD has created resources to support employees in making KU a safe and accepting community for QT people. Even so, it can be challenging to know where to start! The Center has sourced and developed resources specifically for faculty and staff to assist them in creating and maintaining a welcoming environment for QT students. We encourage employees to utilize all the resources available to them in order to make KU a more accepting space.

In the Classroom

  • Syllabus Recommendations

Instructors have an opportunity and responsibility to create safe and accepting spaces through the use of their classrooms. • Volunteer with SGD

Giving back to SGD can be a mutually beneficial way to learn more about, serve, and contribute to the KU QT community. By giving back with SGD, you can learn more about our services, engage with QT people, and contribute to a community who face various barriers. You giving back also means The Center staff can focus on other things, and we can increase our services to the community.

Learning Opportunities

  • On-Demand Education

SGD is dedicated to creating and collecting material for the campus community to use in order to make KU a safe and celebratory place for all QT people. You'll find recordings of programs that speak to SGD's four pillars of Advocacy, Connection, Education, and Wellness. We encourage staff and faculty to utilize these resources in their class instruction, supervision of staff, professional development, and more.
